Her Excellency, Glenda Morean-Phillip, High Commissioner for T&T has been re-assigned to become Ambassador to the USA. This is to take effect at date yet to be notified to us.
Several of major players of the T&T diasopra planned over the last few months to devise a way of recognising the efforts she made in engaging with the community and Caribbean Diaspora and bringing to her role as Ambassador here in Europe an innovative and refreshing approach.They agreed that they would present her with an Award coming from nationals, their descendants and the many friends of T&T and the HC herself so that she can see how we all felt about her stay with us. This award was given to her at an appreciation ceremony at the Trinidad and Tobago High Commision on Belgrave Square on the 11the of April 2008.
The Award was presented by Miss T&T UK Valerie Gosine and other famous personalities such as Rudolph Walkerand emerging T&T UK Dub & Word Poet Ras Conrad were in attendance. See Photos below.
Mrs Glenda Morean Phillips has been one of the more outstanding and hands on High Commisioners, she will be most be remembered for her part in the T&T World cup journey, where unlike the normal aloof attitude of certain predecessors, she was there at the Three Kings Pub in Kennsington to see T&T qualify against Bahrain for the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
She will also be remembered for her input into the famous" Trinis in Trafalgar square" event that saw the like of Denise Plumber and a complete panside to the people of central London, all of whom looked on in adoration of our culture.
Not one to miss an opportunity to help T&T culture Her Excellency, Glenda Morean-Phillip has been a frequent patron of many events including the Miss T&T UK pageant and The annual NHMBA Grand Carnival Splash at Alexandra Palace.
The congretation of the Tabernacle Church in Ladbrooke grove also had an appreciation ceremony for her the next day Saturday 12th April where they showed their appreciation.
